The Historic Ramsey House will be hosting a free presentation by the Knoxville Civil War Roundtable:
The role of Knoxville in the Civil War: What civilian life was like in a city of divided loyalties from 1861 to 1865, including the role of the Ramsey Family during that time. .
The presenter: Dennis Urban, who is the Vise President of the Knoxville Civil War Roundtable. He is retired from the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education as an Emergency Management Technical Expert. I have been a Kingston, TN resident for the past 9 years. I spend 35 years in the active fire service with my last service as a chief officer and fire chief in Montgomery County, MD. I am a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. My interest in the Civil War extends from my early childhood in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC where I grew up. I have been collecting Civil War artifacts and conducting independent research for many years. Since coming to the Knoxville area with no knowledge of the history of East TN, I have been fascinated with the unique history of the region; its divided loyalties before, during, and after the war; and its many colorful characters.
