Tallent, age 86, of Morristown, TN passed away on June 22, 2026. Johnny was a member of Catherine Nenny Baptist Church. He had preached for 69 years as a pastor and evangelist. He had the honor of preaching in 32 states and 5 foreign countries. Johnny was a Godly man and lived what he preached. He was a loving and faithful husband, stepfather, grandfather, and great grandfather, also brother and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and Marvin Hooks; grandson, Anthony Yount; and mother-in-law, Ardis DeArmond.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara DeArmond Tallent; stepdaughter, Robin (Chuck) Mehaffey; grandson, Tanner (Britney) Yount; great grandsons, Garron, Elijah and Malachi Yount; sister, Henrietta Neely; niece, Kim (Charles) Faile; nephews, Robert and Geoff Neely of South Carolina; sistersin- law, Dawn DeArmond and Joyce Walker; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25th from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at Stubblefield Funeral Home with the service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Ross Woody and Reverend Billy Gulley officiating. Family and friends will meet at Hamblen Memory Gardens at noon on June 26, 2026, for graveside services with Rev. Dannie Bell officiating.

We would like to give a special thanks to Smoky Mountain Hospice and Jefferson Memorial Hospital for their great care and love. The family requests donations sent to Shriner’s of Greeneville, South Carolina and St. Jude’s of Memphis, Tennessee in lieu of flowers.
