EAA 1494 to host Youth Aviation Day Camp July 7-8

Morristown Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1494 will host a two-day Youth Aviation Day Camp on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 7 and 8 for ages 10-17.

The camp will take place (subject to verification) at the Morristown Aviation Terminal (or at the hangar). Camp on both days will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with lunch provided. Cost for the two-day camp is $45 per camper.

Registration is available at the chapter’s Square site: https:// eaa1494.square.site/…/ZRDGFW33FNYOQZ5C5JBDG6AB This fun and educational two-day Youth Camp is filled with a series of hands-on Aviation and STEM related activities.

There will be a variety of activities with several things camp participants will build/create and take home. There will be hands-on projects, including sheet metal/riveting, a soldering/ circuits project, introduction to break/shear/lathe tools (for older youth), safety wire/torque wrench hands on activities, building a small-scale wooden wing rib, and completing an electrical project. Those who have attended past workshops or a previous year’s day camp will have a chance to take their skills to the next level. For those attending for the first time, there’s no prerequisite other than a sense of curiosity and eagerness for some hands-on aviation learning!

Campers will also get to talk with pilots and instructors, learn about aviation careers, and engage in multiple sessions to explore the world of aircraft, navigation, learning to fly, and the airport environment and the people who work and fly there.
