Alfred Dean Jones, age 89, born May 3, 1937, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, peacefully in his sleep. Alfred was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and brother-inlaw. He was a longtime, faithful member of Holt’s Baptist Church. Many in the community will also remember Alfred from his many years of employment at Bradley’s Hardware, where he truly loved greeting and helping his customers with a warm smile. He is now reunited with his wife, Shelby Jean Jones, who preceded him in death in 2017. He was also preceded in death by mother and father, Carson and Virginia Jones; his twin sister, Imogene Riley; his brothers, Otis Jones, W.C. “Sonny” Jones, and Bobby Joe Jones; his sister, Betty Barnard; his brothers-in-law, E.J. Riley, Claude Alder, and Fay Barnard; his sister-in-law, Linda Jones; his mother-in-law, Hettie Walton; his brothers- in-law from Shelby’s family, Charles Matthews, Elisha Manning, Max Walton, Edward Walton, Hubert Walton, and Fred Walton; and his sisters-in-law from Shelby’s family, Reba Matthews, Mildred Manning, Mary Hall, Inez Walton, Sarah Jane Walton. Alfred is survived by his son, Harold Jones; his cherished granddaughter, Alyssa Inman and her husband Adrien; his dog and constant companion, Duke; his sister, Ruth Alder; and his brothers and sisters-inlaw, Grover and Ileta Jones, Benny and Linda Jones, Vonda Jones, and Janice Jones. He is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2026 at Holt’s Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Alan Lamb and Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
