Election night goes easy in uncontested races
While some candidates in Hamblen County were sweating the results of the Hamblen County May 5 primary right down to the very end, others – who were uncontested in their races – had a much easier night able to kick back, relax and wait for the courtesy votes to roll in.
Several candidates who were uncontested in the May primary and facing no opposition in the August General Election have known for quite some time that their win was inevitable.

• School Board candidates: Incumbent Republican Jerrod Weems (Districts 9 &10) will be joined by newcomers Sandy Dyke (Districts 11 & 12) and David Purkey (Districts 5 & 6), all of whom were unchallenged. Incumbent Independent Johnny Denton is also unchallenged in District 1 & 2.
