Tribune will not publish Tuesday paper due to holiday

Due to the Memorial Day holiday and postal delivery, the Citizen Tribune will not produce a printed edition for Tuesday, May 25, the newspaper announced Friday morning.

“Our nation sets aside Memorial Day to reflect upon the sacrifices of those who have given the last full measure of devotion in service of their country,” said Lakeway Publishers President R. Michael Fishman. “It is a time to come together with friends and family to honor their great gift by enjoying the freedoms they died to preserve for all of us.

“While we know the newspaper is an important part of our readers’ routine, we also want to provide our Tribune family an opportunity to spend this important holiday with their own loved ones.”

Fishman noted the Tribune will not be entirely silent on the holiday.

Members of the newsroom will spend part of the day covering the various community events and making themselves available to cover any breaking news that might arise.

“We will be posting stories to our website, www.citizentribune.com,” Fishman said. “We will also turn off our paywall for the holiday and make every story on the site available to our readers for free without need for username or password.

“We take our duty to cover this community to the best of our ability very seriously and the website – which is available for desktop and mobile devices – give us the opportunity to deliver the news quickly and effectively even when print options are unavailable.”

Fishman thanked the readers for their understanding and patience.

“This is an important day for our country, especially as we have members of our military in harm’s way,” Fishman said. “Now more than ever we must take the time – whenever it is presented to us – to stop and reflect on the sacrifices that have been made on our behalf. We must take the time to sit down with our family and friends and neighbors.”

The Tribune will return to its regular print schedule on Wednesday, May 27.
