Venom Sports Complex and Training Center hosts ribbon cutting

Venom Sports Complex and Training Center, located at 280 North Fairmont Street in Morristown, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce Wednesday afternoon.
Rhonda Sams, the 2026 Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, told the audience that the chamber was glad to be at the complex to celebrate its ribbon cutting.
Jerry Long, owner of Venom, opened the center two or three years ago and moved to the present location in August of 2025. At that time, Lauren Seaver of the Chamber, had been after Jerry to join the Chamber.
Jerry is married to Brooke. They have four children.
“We hadn’t been in the chamber until this year,” Jerry said. “Lauren had been onto me to join the chamber since we opened. She said that if we just gave them a chance, she said that the chamber is what you make it. I’m honored to be in the chamber now and I’m excited.”
“We brought something here to help train athletes, those who wanted to experience weight loss, needed a personal trainer and meal plans,” Jerry said. “We have something for everybody.”
There is training for athletes, including a punching bag, cardio equipment and something for every walk of life, Jerry said.
“We have 100 members right now from ages 14 to 81,” he said. “We do kids’ classes through the summer; they can come in run round and jump around.
“We want to be family here,” he said. “We just want to take care of the community.”
Memberships begin at $25 per person per month with discounts available to nurses, teachers, law enforcement, first responders, military and senior citizens. There are also family plans which also offers discounts.
Under Venom’s personal trainer one is in and out of the gym in 45 minutes.
There are classes to suit every ability level, a 500-square-foot indoor turf, training regimens for football, soccer, boxing, softball and baseball training, state of the art free weights, cable and cardio machines.
A sauna and tanning beds are also available.
Also, an important element in a gym is the availability of air conditioning. Jerry said that at his last location, there was no AC.
Hours of staff operation are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 423-353-4263.
