Daniel Rodriguez fanned 10 Buccaneer batters while walking only one but the Chattanooga club was still able to prevail 6-2 at the district tournament in Knoxville. Cainan Crowe went 2-for-3 with a double for the Lions.

Softball

Sevier County 8, Jefferson County 5

The Lady Patriots’ season ended in Tuesday’s district tournament loss to Sevier County. The Bearettes jumped out to a 7-1 lead after four innings and rode it to the end despite a four-run sixth inning for JCHS. Kayli Reece hit a tworun homer in the sixth to spark the short rally, finishing with two hits and two RBIs in the loss. Carsyn Cobbett and McKaylee Hobby aslo had two hits.

Eagleton Academy 10, Claiborne 0

The Lady Bulldogs dropped into the losers bracket of the district tournament after being no-hit. Ella Borbeck had 15 strikeouts for the Lady Royals who moved to 23-8 on the season.

Grace Christian 9, Lakeway Christian 8

The two teams battled throughout the contest before the Lady Rams claimed the one-run win. Avery Ramey homered and Aubree Naill hit a triple. Despite the loss, LCA plays on as they will be the number three seed out of the East regional in the state tournament on Saturday.
