Lakeway Area farms qualify for SBA because of drought conditions

Area farms and businesses that needed more rain in the past few months may be able to find relief through a program announced by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the availability of low-interest federal disaster loans to small businesses and private nonprofit (PNP) organizations in Tennessee who sustained economic losses caused by drought beginning on Dec. 30, 2025.

Purdue/Sackler $7.4 Billion opioid settlement goes into effect

Tennessee Attorney General Johnathan Skrmetti announced that a $7.4 billion settlement reached with Purdue Pharma and its owners, the Sackler family, has become legally effective, capping nearly a decade of work by attorneys general from across the country in pursuing investigations and litigation over Purdue’s and the Sacklers’ role in fueling the opioid crisis.
