Uniform Essentials hosts Chamber ribbon cutting

Uniform Essentials, located at 144 West Main Street, Suite 200, on the Sky Mart Upper Level in Downtown Morristown, hosted the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon-cutting Thursday morning.

Rhonda Sams, 2026 Chairperson for the Chamber of Commerce, welcomed Uniform Essentials to the Downtown Morristown lineup.

“I’m always excited when new businesses open downtown,” Sams said. “Especially when my friends are involved. If you have scrub wear, you have a place to come to. If you’re not a scrubs wearer, they have some cute pants that don’t even look like scrubs.

“We’re excited that you’re here and you’re open,” Sams said.

The store opened in January in their space in the Sky Mart.

“Owner Randy DeBord said that a high customer service level is needed, especially for a business that sells scrubs to the nursing industry.

“She’s already doing it,” Randy said. “People are responding to it. We encourage you to tell as many people as you can. We think that the opportunity will build. The opportunity has always been there. It takes follow-through on customer service and that’s what she does so well.”

Manager Wanda DeBord said that everything she does is for her children.

“For me to get to have an opportunity to help contribute to that, I’m just thrilled,” she said. “I’m so happy that he put his trust into an agency to be able to do that. We work well together.”

Wanda sat down and gave the list of the top scrubs that are available nationwide. The top six styles are Healing Hands, MedCouture and Cherokee, the three brands brought in by Uniform Essentials. Sizes available range from extra small to 5X-Large.

“Our goal is to help healthcare professionals find comfortable, professional uniforms that fit their needs and budget with the convenience of local service,” Wanda said.

In addition to scrubs, Uniform Essentials also sells under scrubs, jackets, lab coats and compression socks with special orders for hardto- find sizes and styles, as well as embroidery services with group pricing available.

“People can come in, try on and find their fit,” Wanda said. “Then, we’ll look at the colors. What we don’t have on the floor, I pull up the catalog. Sometimes, there are 20 colors available. I do a lot of special orders, which take two weeks.

“I can get customers pretty much anything they want,” Wanda said.

“I started with the top six styles and added several since then,” Wanda said. “Our goal is to add a few more and I’d love to bring in shoes. Special orders on shoes takes less than two weeks.”

Wanda also loves working with groups. She said that several groups have entrusted her with ordering their scrubs.

“If you know me, I’m very outgoing, very friendly,” Wanda said. “I love making new friends and having been in the retail business for several years, I make so many new friends just by doing that. This is a totally different community and I’m making new friends now with healthcare workers. I do love my customers who come in and we’ll take care of them. That, to me, will be the key difference. You come in, you get your scrubs, you get me. Hopefully, that will make a difference in that people will respond to that.”

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Closed on Sunday. For more information, call 423-9193427.
