Music and Choir Director Randy Adams dies at age 91

Randolph “Randy” H. Adams, died on May 29, 2026, at Johson City Medical Center following a prolonged illness. Randy was born and raised in Lawn, TX on April 10, 1935. He pursued his love of music at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. After his graduation in 1959, he relocated to Morristown, Tennessee and served for 15 years as Minister of Music at First United Methodist Church. Additionally, he was the founder and director of the Hamblen County Choral Society for 20 years.

Russellville’s Taylor helps lead Texas to back to back titles

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Teagan Kavan struck out five in the final two innings to back a strong start from Citlaly Gutierrez, and Kayden Henry homered to lead Texas to a 4-1 victory over Texas Tech at the Women's College World Series for a second straight national championship. Texas trailed 1-0 after four innings, but a bases-loaded throwing error by shortstop Hailey Toney allowed two unearned runs to score in the fifth for a 2-1 lead. Henry homered off Red Raiders ace NiJaree Canady — in her final collegiate game — to begin the seventh and Leighann Goode singled to drive in the final run.
