Jefferson City officers recognized for Outstanding Achievement

Officers with the Jefferson City Police Department were recently honored for distinguished service, individual achievement and career milestones during 2025, the Department’s 125th year of service.

Patrolman Jaycee Reff earned the 2025 Chief Tobias Younce Police Officer of the Year and 2025 Outstanding Enforcement awards. Reff serves in the Patrol Division, Traffic Unit.

The 2025 Captain Darrell Turley Leadership Award went to Cpl. Jeremy Hayes, a member of the Patrol Division Second Squad.

Sgt. Jimmy Cardwell earned the 2025 Traffic Safety and Enforcement Award. Cardwell is in the Patrol Division Traffic Unit.

Patrolman K-9 Officer Chris Shofner was honored with the 2025 Lifesaving Commendation. Shofner serves in the Patrol Division First Squad and is a member of the K-9 Team.

Officers promoted in 2025 include Lt. Ben Hammer to the Patrol Division; Sgt. Jason Dean, to the Patrol Division, EOD K-9 Team Second Squad; Sgt. Paul Henderson to the Criminal Investigation Division; Cpl. Jeremy Hayes to Patrol Division Second Squad and Cpl. Mark Snowden to the Patrol Division, which includes being the Carson-Newman University Supervisor of LE Operations Second Squad.

Officers recognized for their years of service include Capt. Jerome West, Patrol Division Commander for 30 Years Service; Lt. Ben Hammer, of the Patrol Division for 20 Years Service and Sgt. Robert Peoples, Patrol Division/Third Squad for 25 years of service.

“It is truly an honor to be amongst those who live by the creed – others before self,” Chief of Police Andy Dossett said. “Thank you for all you do for Jefferson City, our country, and the JCPD. Congratulations to this year’s recipients. As we commemorate our 125th year of service, we remember and appreciate those before us.”
