Two killed in Mosheim house fire
Two people were killed when the home they were in on Cedar Crest Road in Mosheim caught fire Monday night.
According to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, around 11:20 p.m., Monday, firefighters from the Town of Mosheim, Midway and Debusk volunteer fire departments came to the residence to fight the blaze. Upon arrival, firefighters were told that there could be people inside the house, according to GCSO Det. Capt. Jeff Davis.
Upon entering the home, two deceased people were discovered inside. The identities of the dead were not released pending notification of next of kin. Both bodies were taken to the William L. Jenkins Forensics Center at East Tennessee State University for autopsies and positive identification.
In addition to the fire departments, Greene County EMS also responded to the scene.
The GCSO’s Criminal Investigation Division and Fire Investigation Units, plus the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Fire Investigation Division responded to the scene and are conducting an ongoing investigation.
