West boys, Jefferson County girls claim 2023 IMAC golf titles

The IMAC golf schedule concluded Monday, September 11 at the Sevierville Golf Club.

The match was the final leg of the three-date event, following earlier contests at Patriot Hills and The Country Club Inc., of Morristown. The final team standings and individual awards were based on the scores accumulated over the three matches.

Morristown-West High School claimed the Boys Title, finishing the day with a team score of 155, followed by Morristown-East at 162, Jefferson County at 177 and Sever County at 189.

The three-day totals which determined the final IMAC standings were similar, with West at 443, East at 491, Jefferson at 507 and Sevier at 570.

The Player of the Year Award went to West’s Greyson Smith, who finished the three rounds with a cumulative score of 8-under par (99). Joining him as AlI-Conference performers were West High’s Todd Greene and Luke Lindsey, Morristown-East’s Parker Spoone and Hunter Worth, Jefferson County’s Cole Osborne and Lucas Havely, and Luke Craft from Sever County.

On the Girls’ side, the Jefferson County Lady Patriots squeezed by Morristown-East for the Conference Championship, with a cumulative three-day total of 277, which was four shots better than the Lady Hurricanes at 281. Sever County finished in third at 299, while Morristown-West rounded out the scoring at 382.

Morristown-East’s Sydney Courtney solidified her place as the Player of the Year by shooting a 39, and finishing the three-match competition 17 strokes better than her closest competitor. In addition to Courtney, all three Jefferson County golfers qualified as All-Conference performers.

Emily Royston led the Lady Patriots, and she was joined by Sarah Howard and Emma Simpson.

Rounding out the All-Conference performers was Sever County’s Carley Miller and West’s Audrey Noe.
