Trojan Talk – Trojan Nation ready for Homecoming Week

B

Welcome everyone to the 6th Trojan Talk of the year! This week will be exciting with a lot of activities going on surrounding football homecoming!

It’s Homecoming week! We have an exciting week of events ahead with plenty of opportunities for you to show off your Trojan Nation spirit. Spirit Count will be taken each day, and the grade level with the most participation will be awarded a prize during Friday’s TNN.

To start off the positive news, we have no school tomorrow Monday, Sept. 4 as it is Labor Day! This day is also the start of the mark of Homecoming Week! Let’s get that school spirit ready! This is the last week for seniors to experience the big homecoming week so make sure to try and participate as much as possible! The central office will also be closed on Monday.

Tuesday will be Anything But A Backpack Day, and we’ll be on a TNN schedule. During TNN, you’ll get to participate in a West High Alma Mater competition! Which TNN can sing or lip-sync the lyrics to the Alma Mater the best? We’ll find out this week! One TNN in each grade level will win a pizza party for submitting the best video.

Wednesday will be Pajama Day. Classes will be on a regular schedule, but there will be no buses to East during 1st block. Everyone will start the day outside with the Breakfast Tailgate party from 7:15-8:20am. Clubs, teams, and organizations will provide free food, drinks, and games for students and staff to enjoy.

Thursday will be Rhyme Without A Reason Day. Dress as things that rhyme but don’t necessarily go together (like dog and frog or Darth Vader and cheese grater). Classes will be on a regular schedule, but there will be no buses to East during 4th block. We will have a pep rally and class games in the gym from 2:00-3:00pm.

Friday is the big day! It’s Trojan Nation Day, and we will be on a TNN schedule. In TNN, everyone will vote for Homecoming Queen, and Spirit Count prizes will be awarded to the winning grade level. The Homecoming Parade will take place downtown at 6 p.m. It runs down Main Street and ends at Burke Toney stadium. The Varsity football team will play Daniel Boone starting at 7 p.m., and the Homecoming Court Presentation and Queen Crowning will take place at halftime.
