Roy “Dale” Pendland
Roy “Dale” Pendland born July 13, 1944, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023 after battling a brief illness.
He was a loving, supportive, and proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
To know Dale was to know a selfless man. A man who would do anything for anyone and always put others first.
This quality was what led him to serve in the U.S. Army and later a career in law enforcement.
Dale began his law enforcement career in Illinois before serving the citizens of Morristown for more than 30 years.
Dale retired from the Morristown Police Department in 2003 as Detective Captain.
He loved the men and women he served with and the community he served.
Dale was preceded in death by parents, grandparents, siblings, and son-in-law William “Billy” Marsh.
He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Pendland, children Kim Collins, Kevin (Niki) Pendland, Kelly Garay, Kristy Pendland, Brandon (Savannah) Pendland, Shawn Pendland, Natalie (Josh) Cole, Nicole Marsh, and Kimberly (Brandon) Moss. Brothers Danny (Patty) Pendland and Michael Pendland; as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his furbabies Taegan, Jeter and CJ.
The family would like to thank Smoky Mountain Home Health Hospice.
The funeral service will take place at 6PM Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Mayes Mortuary with Morristown Police Department (MPD) Chaplain Chris Dotson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM prior to the service.
A Law Enforcement Honor Guard with members from both the Morristown Police Department and The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office will be present.
Military Honors will take place at 2PM, Monday, August 21 at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway.
A procession to the cemetery will leave Mayes Mortuary promptly at 12:45PM on Monday afternoon.
