The Tennessee Department of Transportation reported over the weekend that a crack has developed on US 25W between Lehigh Drive and Hilltop Drive in a Cocke County.

According to TDOT officials, the crack on State Route 32 in Cocke County has been a problematic location requiring periodic maintenance through the years.

Sliding and roadway deterioration has recently escalated requiring a signal-controlled lane closure.

Since Monday, August 7th, TDOT has continued to monitor and perform further investigation of site. TDOT is expediting the plans development process and should have additional information on timeframes and impacts to traffic in the upcoming weeks

There are several cracks along the slope, but the crack that is under continuous monitoring by the Department is approximately 165’ in length and has settled approximately 9 3/4”.
