A Morristown man was arrested on Aug. 2 for the alleged aggravated sexual battery and rape of a child.
The Citizen Tribune does not release the name of a suspect whose identification may lead to the recognition of the victim. The suspect was also charged with incest.
According to a referral made to the Department of Child Services, a testimony revealed that a child victim had been repeatedly molested by her half-brother.
This allegedly occurred 10 times at the family’s home over a period of several months and intercourse was involved.
The victim stated that when she eventually began fighting back during the encounters, her aggressor stopped.
She had not revealed what had happened until the father of her aggressor and her mother were separated.
At the time the incidents were reported, the victim and her mother had physically moved out of the house.
The victim’s mother “assured her that they would” never see him and never have to worry about him again. She did not report the matter initially because she suspected her daughter had told her in confidence.
The accused was underage at the time of the incident but has since turned 18.
The report and subsequent arrest having to do with the incident happened on Aug. 2 as the victim was ready to talk to authorities and other persons about the matter.
