Joshua Len Martin, 26, Jamie Lynne Webb, 42, Wesley Allen Hall, 45, and Becky Sue Ball of Cosby TN, were arrested on trespassing and drug-related charges.
On July 27, Lieutenant Boyce with the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office was informed by K9 Deputy Jacob Damron that there were possible trespassers at a residence that had been under lock and key and inaccessible per the court.
Damron watched a gold car pass by the residence several times, then pulled the driver over. The woman driving was identified as Becky Ball, who stated she did not have anything to do with the people trespassing.
Boyce and Damron, along with other deputies, arrived at the residence to search the property for trespassers and found one man crouching behind some furniture who did not comply with them when given commands. The noncompliant individual was identified by deputies as Joshua Martin who was read his Miranda Rights and arrested due to being wanted out of Cocke County.
Boyce and others cleared the rest of the house and found two more people – Wesley Hall and Jamie Webb.
Hall, like Martin, also has outstanding warrants from Cocke County and therefore was read his rights and arrested. Hall had a number of items with him which included a backpack and jewelry, stating that he had taken some items from the residence. He told deputies that he was unsure if anyone else was there, so Damron allowed his K9 partner, Wubba, to search the area.
Though deputies had reentered where they’d been several times, they called out again for remaining occupants and gave a warning that Wubba would be let off the leash to search for anyone left hiding. At this time, Webb leapt up and made her presence known, stating she was coming out of her hiding spot and that she did not want to get bit by the dog.
Webb was also arrested and read her rights, and then told deputies that she tried to persuade Hall and Martin to not enter the premises and was there only because she was trying to get them to leave. She stated that nobody else was at the residence which was verified when more deputies arrived at the scene and conducted a second search.
A neighbor of the residence told Damron that Ball had dropped the suspects off at the house, and so he tracked her down and arrested her as well after reading her Miranda Rights.
Deputies found approximately 10 grams of a crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine, 5 grams of a green substance thought to be marijuana and digital scales and syringes typically used to inject illegal narcotics.
Webb, Hall, Martin, and Ball were all transported to the Cocke County Jail without incident.
