HOLA Lakeway prepping for International Food Festival

HOLA Lakeway is thrilled to announce that the community-favorite Lakeway International Food Festival will return to Morristown’s Downtown Green and Farmers Market.

This year’s festival will take place on August 26 between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

It is free to attend.

Now in its eighth year, the HOLA Lakeway International Festival brings to Morristown a taste of Latin American, European, Asia-Pacific, and other international cuisine. The community-based event embraces the diversity of the Lakeway Area through the exploration of foods, music, games, and languages.

The event will feature at least 28 different vendors. Food vendors from many cultures including, so far, Australia, Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Federated States of Micronesia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Ukraine, United States, and Venezuela. Many arts and craft vendors and non-profits will also attend and present.

The 2023 festival is a community based event which is expected to attract over 7,000 attendees from the Lakeway region and around the state of Tennessee.

“HOLA Lakeway’s mission is centered on integration; people bond when they break bread together, food builds community” said Willie Santana one of HOLA Lakeway’s founders. The festival has grown into an important part of the Lakeway Area’s cultural, economic, and social character and showcases the important and unique contributions that the immigrant families of the Lakeway Area make in our community. Betsy Hurst, HOLA’s Executive Director says, “We are excited for this year’s event – the festival grows every year and this year is no different, so, once again, it’ll be the biggest and most diverse festival yet!”

HOLA’s goal for the festival has always been to create an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the Lakeway Area’s rich and diverse culture. The organization also hopes to make a lasting contribution to the local economy by attracting nearby residents to visit, eat, and shop.
