Debbie Lynn Thayer, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the age of 72.

She was with her husband, Steve, of 51 years. Debbie was characterized by faithfulness—faithful to love and serve her family, church, and her hometown community of Morristown. Debbie spent her life in social services.

She worked as a social worker in middle Tennessee, at Morristown Hamblen Hospital, and most of her career as the Director of the Morristown Senior Citizens Center. She volunteered on committees and boards of many charitable organizations.

She also spent much of her time, especially in retirement, serving members of her church, First Baptist Morristown.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lynn “Jeep” and Jane Rouse.

She is succeeded in life by her husband, Steve; children, Brad (Candace) Thayer and Ashley (Josh) Davis; brothers, Doug (Kathy) Rouse and Rusty (Janet) Rouse; five grandchildren, Olivia, Eva, Nadia, Greyson, and Holston; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Morristown Senior Citizens Center.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 3 p.m. Saturday, July 22ndon Saturday, July 22 at First Baptist Church Morristown.

Funeral services will follow at 3p.m. at the church with Dr. Dean Haun and Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Witt Baptist Church Cemetery.
