Lakeway CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, announced Saturday that there will be a fundraising event at the Morristown Masonic Lodge on July 27 for Morristown Police Officer Hunter Donahoo.

The fundraising event at the Masonic Lodge located at 120 S. Mill Street in Morristown will feature $8 burger or hotdog meals with a drink and chips and will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fundraiser will be sponsored by the Lodge.

All proceeds from this event will go to Donahoo, who was diagnosed with a mass on his brain and is awaiting treatment. Surgery will be necessary to remove the mass and determine a further course of treatment.

Donahoo has been at MPD for four years.

He is a former Deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

He is also a Navy veteran and he and his wife are expecting their second child in less than a month.

According to a local news station, the Morristown community has shown an outpouring of support since the diagnosis was made, stating that individuals have seemingly come out of nowhere to offer prayer, support and thoughtful or encouraging messages.

“We are grateful to the community for the outpouring of support shown to Officer Donahoo and his family. This officer has spent his career giving to the community and now they are giving back to him during this unimaginably difficult time in his life,” said Chief Roger Overholt of the MPD.

There is a GoFundMe page specifically in support of Donahoo’s associated medical costs at the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/morristown-police-officer-hunter-donahoo which is provided by the non-profit Blue Line Tennessee.
