Cocke County Sheriff’s Office conducting Operation Open Gate

The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an ongoing investigation dubbed “Operation Open Gate” targeting active narcotics operations in the area.
Among those was a location known as “Stairway to Heroin” on Brisk Way. The Sheriff’s office, along with the Newport Police and ATF agents served a narcotic search warrant following an investigation into the sale of Heroin, Fentanyl and meth.
“We have made several arrest, drug seizures, gun seizure, and money seizure,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “We will release more information as we complete the investigation this afternoon. Thanks to the hard work and commitment to fighting this war on drugs that is hurting our families.”
Deputies seized:
* 127.3 grams of a crystal rock substance suspected to be methamphetamine,
* 4.3 grams of suspected heroin
* A suspected LSD strip
* A gram of suspected Marijuana
* A .9MM handgun
* Ammunition
* $843
Jackie Wilson, age 44, was arrested with multiple charges and held in the detention center on a $250,000 bond. He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, Possession of a handgun during the commission of a dangerous felony, Possession of methamphetamine with intent and 3 counts of possession of Heroin,Meth and Marijuana.
David Shults, age 56, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sale and deliver.
Kelly Roberts, age 36, was arrested on a capias as well drug paraphernalia and sale and delivery of drugs charges.
Daniel Messer, age 34, was arrested on a violation of probation.
Also in relation to Operation Open Gate, the CCSO assisted by the Newport Police Department served a narcotic search warrant on Hartford Road, which is occupied by target Johnny Gunter.
Law enforcement had information related to this residence and continues to actively work the case.
Gunter and Alice Ottinger were arrested.
