Fire chief spots restaurant fire
On Monday May 29th at around 12:30 p.m., the chief of Tazewell/New Tazewell Fire Department noticed smoke on the exterior of Old Town Grill restaurant.
Pulling into the parking lot, he found a row of bushes on fire extending into the lower awning of the building.
The Chief requested a tone for a fire on the exterior of the building and used two 10 lbs. extinguishers to knock down the fire until Engine 1 arrived to suppress the fire.
Smoke had entered the attic area and was venting from multiple areas. The department chief returned to the fire house to grab Tower 1 to assist Engine 1 on scene.
The aerial was used to check the roof area for extension of fire but nothing was found and firefighters cleared the interior area.
No injuries reported at the time of the fire and units cleared around 1315.
