Former Bigfoot Festival back with new name: East Tennessee Paracon

B

Last year’s popular East Tennessee Bigfoot Festival is back with a new name and a new location.

The Second Annual East Tennessee Paracon will be held Friday and Saturday, April 28-29 at the Morristown VFW Post, located at 2503 East Andrew Johnson Highway. Vendor setup is from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday. Gates will open Friday at 1 p.m., with some celebrities arriving at 4 p.m. for a meet and greet.

Comedian Jamie Simpson, who does a tribute act/imitation of comedian Jeff Foxworthy, will perform at 7 p.m., Friday, followed by a performance by Kevin Palmer at 8 p.m.

Saturday’s event opens at 9 a.m. for VIP entry, followed by the official opening at 10 a.m.

The Stonewalls bluegrass band will perform at 11 a.m. and Cody Woody performs at 1 p.m.

A roundtable question and answer session will be held at 3 p.m. Prize drawing giveaways will be at 5 p.m. The Trick-Shot Band will perform at 7 p.m.

A Bigfoot and Ghost Hunt will take place at a designated location at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for both days.

The event will benefit Kingswood Home for Children, which will receive a portion of the sales.

There are more than 20 celebrity guests, plus bands, a comedy show, food trucks and vendors coming to this year’s event, according to coordinator Josh Dillon.

“The big difference is most of this will be indoors at the VFW. All celebrities will be indoors,” Dillon said. “Most of them don’t charge for autographs, unless you want to buy a picture. We had a good turnout last year.”

Guests scheduled to attend include Russ Accord from “Expedition Bigfoot,” in his first trip to Tennessee. Also appearing are Turtleman from “Call of the Wildman,” “Mountain Man” from Duck Dynasty and Ken Gerhard from “Monster Quest,” among others.

In addition, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be on hand with game wardens. An auction will take place at 4 p.m., Saturday with proceeds going to Kingswood Home.

Attendees are asked to bring items, such as food, toys or clothing, to help the children of Kingswood Home.
