With the last day of Early Voting in the Morristown municipal election set for Thursday, this year’s turnout remains ahead of the pace set in each of the last two elections.

Through the first 10 days of early voting, there have been 543 votes cast. In 2021, a year that did not feature a mayoral election, there were 370 votes cast through the first 10 days.

In 2019, the last municipal election to feature a mayoral race, there were 313 votes cast through 10 days, although one of those days the election office was closed due to a holiday.

In all, 1,052 absentee and early ballots were cast in 2021 and 759 cast in 2019.

This year’s municipal election features a trio of contested races.

Incumbent Ward 2 Councilmember Chris Bivens is being challenged by Katy Tindall Klose.

Incumbent at-large Councilmember Ken Smith is being challenged by Joe Senter.
