It was an eventful night at the Tennessee Board of Regent’s fifth annual Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition this week.

While Walters State Community College won the Community College of the Year award for the second consecutive year, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Morristown took home the Technical College of the Year honors.

TCAT Morristown President Susanne brought the award back home from Nashville in honor of all of her students and faculty and staff.

“We are very honored to be named Technical College of the Year,” she said. “I am extremely proud of our faculty and staff, which are committed to our students and genuinely invested in their success. We are blessed to serve a community that promotes our mission, and it is with their support that TCAT Morristown is recognized as a leader in technical education.

“It is awesome the Lakeway Area is home to both the Technical College and Community College of the year. Great things happening in our region!”

Both Walters State and TCAT Morristown took home engraved College Cups signifying their 2023 College of the Year awards.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee – in recorded remarks and Board of Regents Vice Chair Emily J. Reynolds and TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings praised all the winners involved.
