Randolph “Randy” Pokorny
Randolph “Randy” Pokorny, age 78, of Morristown, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at Life Care of Morristown.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morristown where for many years he was active in the church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Randy had a servant’s heart, helping anyone in need and touched the lives of many people.
Randy, along with Bill Taylor, started Habitat for Humanity in Hamblen County. He worked with Disaster Relief during Isle of Palms and Hurricane Katrina and had a heart for disaster relief work. He was a well known custom home builder, later specializing in guttering and siding, and after his retirement, purchased Baskin Robbins in Morristown.
Randy loved his family and his extended family and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Pokorny.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia “Ginny” Pokorny; daughter, Wendy (Terry) Gilhula; son, Todd (Sarah) Pokorny; grandchildren, Connor and Evan Gilhula and Kylah, Lilly, and Willow Pokorny; sister, Nancy (Bob) Wooden; sisters-in-law, Denise Winston and Laura Gerrish; also a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to nurses, Brittani Mason of U.T. Hospice and Beth Gentry at Life Care Center in Morristown.
