Washburn girls breeze past Berean Christian

Just two days after dominating Clinch, Braelyn Coffey and Saylor Clay were at it again for Washburn on Thursday evening.
Taking on Berean Christian, Coffey and Clay each scored 21 points as Washburn cruised to a 62-13 victory.
Clay hit five 3-pointers in the game while Coffey hit three. Clay’s damage came in the first quarter with 11 points while Coffey scored 11 in the second quarter.
Other scorers for Washburn were Abigail Epperson with nine, Hannah Williams with six, Kylie Nicely with three and Ebany Hill with two.
Things started strong for Washburn in the game as they led 18-8 after one thanks to Clay’s 11 points. In the second, Coffey led the way with 11 points as the defense held Berean to one point. Washburn led 36-9 at the break.
In the third, Washburn held Berean to a lone point again while the Pirates scored 15 more and led 51-10. Clay and Coffey each had five points in the quarter.
In the fourth, Epperson hit two 3-pointers as Washburn cruised to the win.
Washburn will be back in action on Friday as they host Gibbs. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
