Angela Marie Lawson, age 66, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Morristown- Hamblen Healthcare System. When she was able, she attended Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lawson; parents, Jesse, and Helen Shipman Carpenter; brother, Perry Carpenter.

She is survived by her children, Ricky Purkey, Crystal (Welgin) Holt, Nicholas (Violet) Purkey; grandchildren, Adrian, Preston, Devin, Nicholas, Brooklyn, Trevor, Haley, and Ciara; five great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Carpenter; nephew, Harley Carpenter; boyfriend, Gerald Ellis.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack Greene officiating. Graveside/interment services will be on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
