VFDs respond to commercial fire

A fire at a Hamblen County commercial facility resulted in no injuries early Friday morning.

All four Hamblen County volunteer fire departments were called to Clinch River Hardwood to the the business in West Hamblen County.

Crews arrived quickly to find a large building heavily involved in fire.

According to Brad Richardson, of the West Hamblen Volunteer Fire Department, all four agencies worked on the fire for two hours before finally extinguishing it.

An aggressive attack was deployed and the fire contained to one building, according to Richardson. In addition to the volunteer fire departments, Morristown-Hamblen EMS, deputies with the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office, Morristown Utilities and Appalachian Electric Cooperative also responded to the scene.

The fire is still under investigation as of Friday morning.
