A juvenile has been charged following a social media threat towards a Hawkins County high school Thursday.

At 5 p.m., Thursday, the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office received information in regards to a threat at Volunteer High School that was posted on a social media outlet.

After an investigation, a juvenile was charged with making the threat. The juvenile was taken into custody at 8 p.m., Thursday.

According to a release from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office, this threat did not single any person out. The HCSO went on to say that this was an isolated incident.

Friday morning, there were extra members of law enforcement present at VHS.

Volunteer did not go on any type of lockdown due to this incident occurring after school hours and the individual was not on school property.
