Man hit by train in Greeneville

A man suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a train near the State Route 70/West Main Street intersection in Greeneville Saturday.

According to information provided by the Greeneville Police Department, at 11:04 a.m., Saturday, Greeneville/Greene County Central Dispatch notified GPD that a man had been struck by a train near the State Route 70 Bypass/West Main Street intersection.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the man had stepped onto the railroad tracks approximately 100 feet west of the State Route 70 Bypass railroad crossing and was struck by the train.

The man sustained only minor injuries and refused medical treatment by Greene County EMS at the scene. GPD contacted Norfolk Southern Railroad Police, who is conducting the investigation.
