Lady ‘Canes fall to Daniel Boone in Triple OT

Morristown East had multiple chances on Tuesday night to seal a victory against Daniel Boone but were unable to close it out, falling 61-54 in Triple OT.
The Lady ‘Canes had a two-point lead in regulation but turned the ball over trying to ice the game away, leading to a Boone bucket and overtime. In the first overtime, East led by three with 25 seconds left but gave up a game-tying three on a second chance effort. East had the last shot in double overtime but couldn’t convert, and the Lady ‘Canes missed free throws in triple overtime as Boone claimed the win.
The Hall sisters led the way for East as Hailey Hall finished with 18 points and Hannah Hall added 17 points. Other scorers for East were Ella Wampler with eight, Hudson Cloninger with seven and Finley Surber with four.
It was a slow start to the game as Boone broke out to an 16-8 lead after one. In the second, East outscored Boone by five to cut the lead to 25-22 at the break. Hailey Hall had seven points in the second.
Boone still led after three quarters, 35-33, but East took the lead in regulation before turning the ball over leading to the tying bucket.
East managed just 11 points in the three overtime periods and gave up nine in the third overtime as Boone prevailed.
East will be back in action on Friday as they host Sevier County. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
