Food Truck event set for Saturday

More than 20 food trucks will be lined up tomorrow at Lowe’s Morristown for the first Eat N’ Greet, a food truck gathering.
The trucks offering culinary delights ranging from donuts to smoked barbecue will be selling foods from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The event comes from Bill Hall who is the owner of Grill Billy Smoke, a BBQ food truck and catering business.
Hall is excited about the community interest the event has received since the announcement.
“The community has supported this event from the beginning and has helped it grow so much bigger,” Hall said. “We originally had about 10 trucks signed up when we announced and that number has grown to 25. So there will be many options to try and you’re bound to find something you like.”
With the addition of more food trucks the event has added a great variety of food options for the community to try.
“We have added a gluten free donut truck to the event,” Hall said. “We are happy that The Donut Theory will be joining us because that will allow those with food restrictions to enjoy our event as well.”
Hall’s goal for the event is to help spread the word about local food trucks and help the community get a taste of their home cooked meals.
“For me, seeing the struggles we’ve faced I want to be a match maker and help people find food that they like,” Hall said. “Through this event we want to help grow the audience of the many amazing food trucks we have in the area.”
“People love having options and we want to have as many food trucks in one place and have the community out to see what Morristown has to offer.”
There are several food trucks that serve the same products, but he wants to remind the community this isn’t a competition but a chance to bring everyone together.
“We serve BBQ at my food truck and another BBQ food truck just called asking to join and I said of course because somebody might like his over mine.”
“It’s about trying to get everyone together at one spot and have the community come out and support our foo trucks.”
Joe is encouraging all businesses to create an affordable sampler to allow the community to try as many trucks as possible.
“We are having $1 to $5 samplers for people to try and other trucks will be doing the same so we encourage everyone to come hungry because there will be a lot of delicious food to try.
The event is meant to be a match maker, and Hall hopes that people will continue to support the food trucks even after the event is over.
“We want this event to be a food truck match maker,” Hall explained. “We don’t want people to just come to this event and eat at these food trucks, just once. We want people to try these trucks and then go back to them even after this event.”
“I had to turn away a lot of food trucks that don’t sell in the Lakeway Area because I don’t want someone to try a truck at our event and then have to travel a hundred miles to try it again. All of the trucks that will be at our event already set up in the Lakeway Area or plan to soon.”
Hall sends a thank you to Lowe’s in Morristown, a new supporter of local food trucks.
They have been such an amazing supporter to our own food truck but also to this event,” Hall said. “They offered their parking lot for our event without question and will also be providing tables and chairs for people to eat at and we want to thank them.”
Prior to COVID Lowe’s made it very difficult for food trucks to set up in their lots. However, after leadership changes, Lowes began to welcome trucks to sell food in their lots.
The Eat-N-Greet food truck will begin at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Lowe’s Morristown on Saturday March 4.
The food trucks signed up to attend are GrillBilly Smoke, Oh Nuts Donuts, Sully’s Food Truck, Island Vibe Grill, Bite Me Bistro-Food Truck-Greeneville TN, Kona Ice, FATS BBQ, Big Al’s BBQ & Catering, Latin Munchies TN, Panini Hotspot, Belly Deli Concessions, Puerto Rican Smoke Food Truck, Wowfulls Mouthfull, Happy Hiker, Raspados cancun, Today’s Special Food Trailer, Confetti concessions, Snow Daddy’s, Cake By The Lake, River Dog BBQ, Meek’s Kitchen, Hillbilly Burritos, The Donut Theory and 911 Cookies.
