T he City of Morristown Park and Recreation Department announced that this year’s “Hot Wheels Derby” will be hosted on Saturday, March 11 at Talley Ward Recreation Center.

The center will open at 9 a.m. for check-in and the races will begin at 10 a.m.

Each racer may enter 3 cars to race the gutter track and the timed track.

Awards will be given for first, second and third places in each age category.

Categories are: ages 5 and under, ages 6 to 12, ages 13 to 18 and Ol’ Hot Rods.

Participants can call Morristown Parks and Recreation Department at 423-586-0260 or follow the link provided on the City of Morristown Parks and Recreation Facebook page to register. Registration ends on March 7.

“We are adding additional activities for the younger categories, however the Ol’ Hot Rods may enjoy coloring or playing on other tracks as well.” Program Coordinator Jennifer Gentry said. “When selecting your cars make sure they are the 1/64 scale, if they are larger, they will not be able to race on the time tracked due to being too big.”
