The Lakeway Area has a very busy schedule for Saturday, with several events and shows planned throughout the day.

The fun begins early morning at the Morristown-Hamblen Library. The library will have its Seed Swap set to begin at 9 a.m. in the front meeting room.

This event gives fellow gardeners a chance to mingle, share planting secrets and swap spare seeds with others.

Flowers, vegetables, fruits and herb seeds are all included in this event. Participants are also encouraged to share bulbs or cuttings.

There will be experienced gardeners at the event to answer questions for new gardeners and explain the growing process in East Tennessee.

For more information on the seed swap call 423-586-6410 or text 423-301-6882.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Morristown Senior Citizen’s Center will be hosting their Spring Craft Fair.

After the success of their Annual Holiday Bazaar the center wanted to give vendors a chance to continue to sell their items to the community.

There will be more than 20 craft vendors selling a variety of spring themed items, and a bake sale selling different sweet treats. The center will also be selling Sweetwater Valley Cheese and the remainder of its pecans, walnuts, cashews and deluxe mixed nuts.

Buddy’s BBQ Slider Lunch plates will be available to purchase for those who want something more sustaining.

The center will also be raffling different prizes such as Easter baskets and spring wreaths.

Also starting at 9 a.m. Saturday is the Hot Wheels Derby at the Talley Ward Recreation Center.

This event hosted by the Morristown Parks and Recreation Department is a dual lane gutter and timed race.

All /64 Scale Hot Wheels Mainline Cars, MatchBox Cars, Johnny Lightning and others are eligible to race, but they cannot weigh more than 3.0 ounces or 80 grams.

There are three cars per participant. After inspection of each car, it will be numbered then placed in a secure holding area and racers will pick up their car when they race.

Awards for first, second and third place will be given out to the fastest racers.

The event is sponsored by Gutters and More, and Zach Coffey, State Farm agent.

The Citizen Tribune Home Show will begin at 10 a.m. inside College Square Mall.

The Home Show will feature booths throughout the mall representing businesses, giving the community a chance to learn about goods and services available in the Lakeway Area.

This year the show will feature a new segment, the “Art with a Twist” art show. It will also feature live performances from the Theatre Guild, a Saved Thru Faith performance and an acoustic set from Gregg Campbell.

There will be several giveaway prizes including a $250 gift card from Lowe’s, a 3-burner grill from Home Depot valued at $650, $400 cash, a home improvement package valued at $350 from Ben Cantwell at Greater Impact Realty and a $3,500 Tempstar 9000 BTU mini split unit from Renner Electric Heating & Cooling Inc.

This will be the second day of the home show with the event continuing into Sunday from noon until 6 p.m.

The fun doesn’t end there; 7 p.m. Saturday at 1907 Brewing Company the Matt Byrd Band will be performing their new album live before its release to the public.
