An investigation by detectives with the Greeneville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in an indictment in connection with a death that occurred in November 2021.

On Nov. 7, the GPD responded to an abandoned home in the 200 block of West Barton Ridge Road. Upon arrival, Caitlin Crum, 20, was found dead inside. Crum’s cause of death was determined to be an overdose caused by fentanyl and methamphetamine intoxication. During the investigation, authorities identified Preston Romez Moore, 31, as being with the victim at the time of her death. Further investigation revealed that Moore failed to report her death and left her body in the vacant home.

Monday, the Greene County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Moore with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and failure to report a death.

Tuesday, Moore was located and arrested in Knoxville. He was taken to the Greene County Jail and booked on a $70,000 bond.
