Welcome back, Trojans! We hope everyone has had a wonderful spring break and has gotten plenty of rest! This week will be a shortened week; We will be out Thursday, Apr. 6, for Professional Development Day, and Friday, Apr. 7, for Good Friday. Progress reports for the third quarter will go out Tuesday, Apr. 4.

Talent Show Auditions have been moved to Tuesday, April 4 due to the school schedule change for April 6. If you previously signed up for a time slot, your time will stay the same, but please note the change in date! If you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so by completing the form in your grade-level Google Classroom or by contacting Ms. Cobb. We’re still looking for singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, comedians, and more to make our show the best it can be! Cash prizes will be awarded after the show is performed during 3rd block on Friday, April 21. Sign up today to lock in your audition spot!

Senior Beta Club members will be able to purchase their graduation cords through Mrs. Owens. The only approved cord will be the black and gold color combination which is $15; please make checks payable to “West High Beta Club”. To ensure that everyone will receive their cords in time for graduation, please pay the total amount by Apr. 4, 2023. Beta Club’s next meeting will be on Apr. 4, 2023. All community service hours for Beta will be due on Apr. 4.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) will be competing at State, Monday through Wednesday this week in Chattanooga, TN. We wish them best of luck in their competitions.

Cap and Gown photos for Seniors will be taken on Tuesday, Apr. 11, in the auditorium from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you intend on taking the Cap and Gown portraits, please fill out the Google form in your Google Classroom. If you have paid the sitting fee for the Senior portraits in the Fall, you will not need to pay a sitting fee for the Cap and Gown photos.

Applications for next year’s Student Council will open on Monday, Apr. 17, and will be due by Wednesday, Apr. 26. Student Council members help plan and organize events such as Homecoming, Prom, Pep-rallies, and much more! Please contact Ms. Cobb for further information.

This year, Prom will be Saturday, Apr. 29. If you decide to bring a guest, there are important steps and guidelines in place due to safety concerns. A form must be filled out prior with their information and an interview may be conducted. Forms are available in the library from Ms. Long. Contact Mrs. Collins (room 440) at collinsa122@hcboe.net or Ms. Long (library) at longb@hcboe.net with any questions. Cinderella’s Closet is open, by appointment only. If you need formal wear, dresses, shoes, makeup free of charge, call 865-287-5118 to schedule an appointment.

If you are interested in joining the cheerleading team next year, try-outs will be this Monday, Apr. 3. All materials and forms should be turned in to Ms. Jones prior.

In addition, West High is proud to announce that we will be having our very own Dance Team! Try-outs for the Morristown-West Dance Team will be Apr. 17 through Apr. 21. Anyone interested should join the Google Classroom with code: d553qrp.

For sports, Tuesday, Apr. 4, Softball will be playing against Jefferson and Baseball will be playing against Morristown-East. Softball will also be playing Thursday, Apr. 6, against Sevierville. Baseball will play South Greene on Thursday, Apr. 6. Trojans Soccer will be playing a home game against Morristown-East this Friday, Apr. 7. In addition, there will be a track meet this weekend on Saturday, Apr. 8, in Bristol, TN. Come support the Trojan Athletes!

In honor of Mr. Brian Marcum, there will be a scholarship available for Seniors who are planning to major in education; applications are available in the counseling office and the deadline will be Apr. 21, 2023.
