New Market home destroyed in fire

A Wednesday afternoon fire in New Market resulted in a total loss.
New Market Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire around 2:47 p.m., Wednesday at 2038 Bays Mountain Road in New Market Owner Kimberly Wilson made it out of the house safely.
Wilson said that she was sitting in the living room when smoke was coming through her front door. Wilson went and looked out the front door and the front of house was on fire. Wilson ran downstairs, got into her truck and made it out safely.
New Market Fire was assisted by Rural Metro Fire with an engine and tanker along with four personnel; Jefferson City Fire Department had one engine and two personnel; Lakeway Central Fire responded with a tanker and one personnel; Dandridge Fire had a tanker and engine with two personnel; Northview Kodak had a a tanker and two personnel; Kansas-Talbott Fire had a tanker and two personnel and White Pine had a tanker and two personnel.
Jefferson City Emergency Management Services was on scene with deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
There were more than 38,000 gallons of water used. The investigation is ongoing.
