After a brief illness, Mary Gladys Snyder Penley, 96 passed away peacefully May 27, 2023, at Erwin Health Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ova and Lon Robertson, her husbands, Roy Snyder and Don Penley; daughter, Barbara Ann Helton and all her siblings.

She was a faithful and lifetime member of Fairfield Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son Robert Snyder, (Glena) daughter Joyce Kerns, stepdaughters Linda Buell (Bobbie), Donna Gilbert (Butch), grandchildren Robert Snyder II (Julie), Ritchie Kerns, Andie Long (Tim), Carrie Boley (Jamie), Micah Snyder, Branden Snyder (Kristen) and Janice Anderson (Tom), 10 great grandchildren, special nieces Victoria Morrow, Judy Bond and several more nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Erwin Health Care who were so kind to her and family.

Receiving of friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m., with Reverend Scott Helton officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Historic Bethesda Cemetery.
