Clayton S. Hill, 57, of Tazewell, nicknamed “Sputnik,” departed this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Clayton was a great outdoorsman, fisher, and deer hunter. He loved going back to where he was born and raised to hunt on the mountain.

Clayton is preceded in death by his wife, Anita Joe Hill; parents: Lester and Laura Hill; grandparents: Melvin & Catherine Hill and Crockett & Roxie Brooks; nephew, Christopher Goins, and brother-in-law, Stanley Goins.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Hill; son, Clayton Hill Jr. (and family); his beloved fur babies: Olivia and Bruno; sisters: Glenna (Chris) Watterson, Doretha Goins, and Norma Hill; brother, Leonard Hill; and a host of other relatives and friends; a very dear friend, Mrs. Bernice Wilson (and family); very close niece, Atola Lyons; and close friends: Gary Kyle, Anthony Hill, Chris Watterson, Eddie Kyle.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 3pm to 4pm at Dominion Life Worship Center, 1841 West Morris Blvd, with the Memorial Service to follow with Rev. Tommy Loudon officiating.

Interment will be at Goins Cemetery (Tazewell) at a later date.
