City of Morristown Mayor Gary Chesney was recently elected to the board of directors of the Tennessee Municipal League (TML) during the League’s annual business meeting held in Nashville earlier this week.
He was elected as one of eight district directors to represent his section of the state.
Founded in 1940 and based in Nashville, the Tennessee Municipal League advocates for the interests of 345 cities and towns across the state of Tennessee and the citizens they serve.
As a member of the TML board of directors, Chesney will propose and help determine legislative and policy priorities for the League. He will have the opportunity to help guide decisions that will benefit our community. The TML board is comprised of the mayors of Tennessee’s largest cities, four at-large directors, and the eight district directors.
Mayor Gary Chesney says of his new appointment, “I look forward to this new role of sharing issues and challenges with our peer-group councils from across the state. TML has a good history of navigating municipalities through the often complicated web of state laws. I hope my contributions to this organization are beneficial for Morristown.”
