Oh So Sweet: La Monarca gives South Cumberland treats
La Monarca, an ice cream shop with locations in Morristown and Sevierville, makes homemade ice cream, ice popsicles and many other sweat treats. Owners are Guadalupe and Jesus Pacheco
“I run this business with my husband and my family and that’s what I love about La Monarca that it’s a family establishment,” Guadalupe said. “Our name La Monarca is translated to the Monarch after a butterfly in Mexico and we like to represent it here.
“We serve all homemade ice cream and paletas (popsicles), and a lot of sweet treats,” she said. “One of our top sellers the Fresca con Crema which is strawberries and crème,” she said.
Jesus added, “We have been established for a little almost a year now and we couldn’t have made this possible without our employees who are the heart of the business and keep it running. We want to thank our customers who keep coming back and without God none of this would be possible.”
La Monarca sells Bionicos, a Mexican fruit salad that has strawberry, banana, cantaloupe, papaya, granola, coconut shavings and homemade crème.
Its Concha Nieve is a concha (Mexican bread) cut in half, with a Nutella spread, fresh strawberries, whip cream, then served with 2 scoops of our homemade ice-cream , drizzled with Lechera (sweet condensed milk) and finished off with powdered sugar.
The Mangonada, which is the business’ best seller, is a mango sorbet with chamoy (sweet sauce), chili powder, and fresh mango chunks.
La Monarca is located at 1034 S Cumberland St in Morristown and 725 Parkway Suite 1 in Servierville. More information on the shop can be found on its Facebook page. The shops are open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.
