Yearbooks have gone on sale
Yet another successful week has passed for the East High Hurricanes.
As we continue to ease into the school year, more and more wonderful opportunities and standout performances reveal themselves.
Yearbooks have gone on sale for $85, which is your best bargain of the year. We are all excited to see the fresh perspective that Mrs. Short and the new wave of student editors has to offer.
On the same theme, picture day for students and make-ups for senior portraits are on August the 28th.
Make sure to look your best for your own stellar picture that the school can display proudly!
For all of the new seniors, your night for answers is August the 22nd.
The counseling department’s Senior night for commonly asked questions and information for the course of your year will begin at 5 p.m.
The bell schedule has changed going into the week of the 14th. With the deduction of STORM, approximately 15 minutes will be added to each period on every weekday but friday.
Our staff is already using the new schedule for the success of their students, and most of them are ecstatic for the additional time in their course!
As a reward for all of their great work, Seven Brew provided a much needed pick-me-up on Wednesday with coffees for all. Make sure to pay them a visit on opening day.
Another reminder that Dual enrollment classes begin on Monday, meaning that students are resting up for… well, less rest!
The guidance office is taking permission forms and money for the tri-state college fair by the 25th.
If you want to delve more into the post-secondary options around our area, this opportunity is for you. Especially for the seniors, this is a crazy time of picking and choosing.
The best way to sort through it is to have all of the information possible– and who knows, maybe you’ll find the school that will change your life.
Moving forward, a number of clubs are looking for new members SAFE, FCCLA, FFA, NAC, speech and debate, and the school scholars bowl teams are having or have recently had their first meetings.
Along the extracurricular lines, Our Hamblen County JROTC corp commander, Annabeth Workman, has been recognized by the school board for the merit of the local program.
The joint program between East and West High has received a top 5% ranking of the 870 worldwide units for the 2022-2023 school year.
Congratulations to the JROTC and good luck to Cadet Workman moving forward into this year.
This, I’m sure, is the ONLY thing the two schools will agree on this week. The East vs. West Citizen Tribune Kickoff classic has been a hot topic for the last number of weeks, but this week the burning question is the much anticipated outcome.
Multiple subsidiary competitions have popped up between students on both sides and the institutions themselves, including the MEDIC blood drive that took place this Thursday. Students, staff, and community members have all picked a side and the rush to see who donated more is on!
This will be announced at the game on Friday. Football passes are on sale for $35 dollars– for entrance into the game versus West, two JV games, and all other home games excluding tournament play.
The Lady Canes Soccer team also took home a win this week against South Doyle (2-1). More on sports next week, in the meantime all of the East teams are sure to continue succeeding for the school in their respective matchups.
Another week comes to a close, but the doors for opportunities in the coming weeks are opening left and right.
