Dogwood Arts exhibition featuring 46 artists opens August 4th

Knoxville, Tennessee — Dogwood Arts is thrilled to announce the return and expansion of the Dogwood Regional Exhibition, which will be on display at the Emporium Center and Dogwood Gallery in Downtown Knoxville August 4-25th. The Dogwood Regional Exhibition showcases fine art of all styles and genres from progressive and emerging artists within a seven-state radius. Nashville-based artist, Todd Herzberg, juried the exhibition and will award cash prizes totaling $2,000 at the opening reception on August 4th. The organization received over 448 artwork submissions from 178 artists working throughout the Southeast. Forty-six artists were juried into the exhibition; the impressive collection of work includes painting, mixed media, wood, photography, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, and textiles.
For the first time, the Dogwood Regional Exhibition will span two galleries — with large-scale sculptural work and site-specific installations on display in the Dogwood Gallery at 123 W. Jackson Avenue.
The exhibition will take place at the Emporium Center; 100 S. Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902 and Dogwood Gallery; 123 W. Jackson Avenue. An opening reception for the public is to be held on first Friday, August 4th, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and is a free event. Run dates for the exhibiton are August 4th through the 25th. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; on Tuesdays the Emporium only will operate from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dunn, Garrett Durland, Dave Edens, Virginia Elliott, Travis Graves, Hannah Hancock, Melissa Harshman, Donald Keefe, M Kobe, Ulrika Leander, Emma Levitz, Ashton Ludden, Elysia Mann, Allison Meriwether, Michael Nichols, Joseph Ovalle, Marcy Parks, Yvonne Petkus, Sharon Popek, Lennie Robertson, Mary Ruden, Ava Rymer, Dennis Sabo, Ernie Sandidge, Greg Schweiger, Hanna Seggerman, Stephen Simmerman, Eric Standley, David Underwood, James Wade, Nkem Warner, Megan Wolfkill, and Marianne Woodside.
Installations in the Dogwood Gallery were done by: Cheryl Burchett (in collaboration with Central High School Art Students & UTK School of Interior Design), Lindsay B. Dawley, Melissa Harshman, and Eric Standley.
About the Juror: Todd Herzberg received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Michigan University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Kentucky. After graduate school, Todd taught at Murray State University as the Assistant Professor of Drawing and Foundations Coordinator for four years before moving to Nashville where he is currently the Director of Marketing & Exhibitions at Tennessee Craft. He works predominantly in the processes of drawing, relief printing, lithography and animation which create complex stories with absurdist overtones. His work has been displayed in over 100 exhibitions across the U.S. and abroad including: Hatch Show Prints in Nashville, TN, Münchner Künstlerhaus in Munich Germany, Site:Brooklyn in Brooklyn NY, Artist Image Resource in Pittsburgh PA, Hilo Gallery at the University of Hawaii, University Gallery at Inner Mongolia University in China, Firehouse Gallery in Baton Rouge LA, and the Metrospace Gallery in East Lansing MI.
