HCSO K9 Nexus receives check for the Aftermath Grant

B

The K9 from the Hamblen County Sheriff’s office who goes by the name of Nexus won 3rd place as a recipient of the Aftermath K9 Grant.

With the assistance of Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins, Nexus was presented a check in the amount of $500 for the money he was recently awarded. More than 800 canines from the across the country were entered in the grant competition. Nexus was the only winner in the state of Tennessee, finishing third in his category.

Aftermath’s 2023 K9 grant rules entailed that all participants were part of U.S. law enforcement agencies or first responders in one of the 50 states to include D.C., and that the handler of the K9 was at least 18 years old.

There was a voting period where those who registered were given time to advocate for their favorite participant, and those votes were tallied up and determined the winners.
