Domestic incident in Bean Station leads to standoff, arrest
An unidentified Bean Station man was charged Sunday in a domestic assault case.
According to a Facebook post from the Bean Station Police Department, around 3:35 p.m., Sunday, the BSPD was called to a Sanita Village Road residence where they heard a man and woman arguing.
The original complaint was that the man was coming to allegedly assault the woman and the man was on the phone with her when police arrived.
Just before officers arrived, she would hear them fighting.
When officers knocked on the doors to attempt entry into the residence, both people were silent and wouldn’t come to the door.
According to police, there have been domestic calls from the same residence in the past involving weapons.
After the residence was secured and a supervisor called, police called for the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, who sent their SORT team.
After arriving on the scene, JCSO attempted to negotiate with the man for his surrender.
As the SORT team was attempting to gain entry into the house, the suspect came out the front door and was taken into custody. The man is currently in the Grainger County Jail.
In addition to the JCSO, assistance was provided by the White Pine Police Department and Grainger County Emergency Medical Services.
