First Friday series to return to Downtown in May

The First Friday Concert Series is back and ready to delight crowds in downtown Morristown.

Last year’s series saw enormous crowds fill a vibrant greenspace downtown at the farmer’s market, and Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce Downtown Director Natasha Morrison said visitors have new, exciting music to look forward to.

“We’re really excited about hosting new acts that are going to be performing on our stage for the first time,” she said. “Having people come down and enjoy good music and everything that downtown Morristown has to offer is something I never get tired of seeing.”

The first concert of the season is going to see The Dirty French Broads take the stage on May 2.

The Asheville, North Carolina-based band is going to be bringing their fresh string music to the market and will be the perfect way to get into the mood for the Morristown Bluegrass Festival that will be taking place at the same location the next day on Saturday, May 3, starting at noon.

Next up, The Roberts Sisters will be continuing an acoustic, Americana sound on June 6.

The twin sisters can frequently be found entertaining crowds at Dollywood and the DreamMore Resort where they’ve charmed visitors to the iconic park.

After skipping a July 4 First Friday to let folks venture over to Cherokee Park’s celebration, country/rock musician Nathan Morgan will be turning up the volume a bit on August

Morgan has opened up for legendary artists like Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, Gretchen Wilson and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Interval, an indie rock band out of Chattanooga will be bringing their unique sound to the downtown green where the sound of a cello should cut through the mix.

Finally, on October 3, rock/pop/country/blues cover specialists Allskate will be bringing their tight grooves in from Johnson City where they’ve built a solid fan base.

With a skillset that can tackle music from now to the 70s, the band has built up an impressive catalogue of music they’ll be drawing from to make the night memorable.

The 2025 First Friday Concert Series is sponsored by Foundever, Howmet Aerospace, KOC Lakeway, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, The Terry Law Firm, Tennessee Valley Authority and Walters State Community College.

“We’re so grateful for our community partners that sponsor these events,” Morrison said. “None of this would be possible without their generous support and commitment to making downtown Morristown a better place.”
