ROUNDUP: Garrett Keiter strikes out 10 as Grizzlies down West

Grainger 11, Morristown West 6

Garrett Keiter finished the game with 10 strikeouts as the Grizzlies won 11-6.

Carver Turley was a tough out as he had a double, two RBIs and walked three times for the Grizzlies. Just for good measure, he also stole three bases. Colton Parrott went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Josh Walker added a double.

Nathan Ramsey and Leo Hull led the Trojans with three hits each. Hull brought three runs in with Hayden Wild, Ramsey and Sutton Smith all smacking doubles for West.

The Trojans will face off against cross-town rival East on Thursday and Friday while The Grizzlies are done until the district tournament that starts next week.

Seymour 4, Morristown East 2

The ‘Canes outhit Seymour 5-3 and led 2-0 entering the fifth inning, but they fell short after allowing four runs in the final two innings. Starter Chace Pimienta pitched a shutout entering the inning, but two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases, and two Eagles eventually scored to tie it. Seymour took control with two more runs in the sixth, and East was shut down in order in the top of the seventh to end it. Parker Setsor led the ‘Canes with a pair of hits.

Knox Central 10, Jefferson County 4

Knox Cenral’s Jack Goode hit a two run homer in the bottom of the first, and the Bobcats never looked back, downing the Patriots. Goode went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in five runs. JCHS made an attempt to close the gap with all four runs coming in the third through fifth inning to make it 7-4, but Knox Central scored three in the bottom of the sixth to put it out of reach.w

Washburn 11, Hancock 1

Gavin Kincaid drove in two runs and Matt Harville connected on a pair of doubles as the Pirates won 11-1. Bryson Clay had a triple for Washburn. Henry Holt went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Indians and produced the lone run.

Lakeway Christian 6, CAK 2

Bryson Allen and Jack Hamilton each hit doubles for the Lions as LCA won their sixth game in a row. The top four batters in the lineup ddi most of the damage as Cainan Crowe, Luke Burnette, Hamilton and Allen all had RBIs.

Cosby 17, Tri-Cities Christian 4

Gage McCarty had two hits an five RBI to help Cosby run-rule Tri-Cities Christian for the second straight day. The Eagles collected 10 hits and drew 13 walks to take the win.

Eagleton 17, Claiborne 3

The Blount County visitors scored eight runs in the top of the first inning and held the Bulldogs to a single hit, that by Sam Wilson, in Tuesday’s victory.

Softball

Morristown West 2, West Ridge 0

Mackenzie Lucky Continued her strong start to the final week of the season, this time in the circle, pitching a complete-game shutout. She allowed four hitts an struck out seven to go with a double at the plate. Eva Boudier and Kaylynn Milton each had two hits in the win.

Cocke County 11, Seymour 0

Cocke County 12, Seymour 0

The Lady Red bounce back from their first losing streak of the season with back-to-back run-rules in a double-header with Seymour. In game one, Hailee Hartsell struck out 11 batters and allowed just one hit and no walks to help complete the shutout. Ellie Proffitt led at the plate with a pair of hits and three RBIs. In game two, it was Proffitt’s time to shine on the mound, also pitching a one-hitter with 12 K’s. Brookelyn Strange and Bentleigh Morrist each homered in the win.

Volunteer 9, Cherokee 2

The Lady Falcons scored at least one run in the first five innings and went on to a 9-2 win. The Lady Chiefs were limited to only three hits.

Eagleton 19, Claiborne 0

Eagleton crossed the plate 13 times in the second inning and allowed only one hit to Briar Miracle. Claiborne also committed six errors in Tuesday’s game.

Greeneville 2, Grainger 0

Lady Greene Devils pitcher Brynlee Jones struck out 15 Grainger batters and surrendered only two hits to pick up the win.

Grace Christian 8, Lakeway Christian 2

The Lady Lions’ long winning streak finally came to an end as the Lady Rams used a five-run first inning to set the tone for the rest of the contest. McKinley Grubb and Ashley Blackburn each had a pair of hits with Blackburn’s being a double.
